Abstract

Background:
Meningitis is a terrible infection with a case fatality rate of up to 30% with neurological problems emerging in 50% of survivors. There are both short-term and long-term consequences, such as subdural effusion and a localized neurological impairment. Loss, convulsions, mental decline, and hydrocephalus. Complications arise as a result of germs neural damage is caused by the production of toxins and the immunological response of the host. Factors connected to Young age and delayed presentations are factors that enhance the likelihood of developing neurological problems. As well as Streptococcus pneumonia as the causative agent.
A multidisciplinary team approach is required for the management of pediatric neurological disorders, with physiotherapy playing a significant role. This study investigated the effectiveness of combination of both aquatic and physiotherapy in managing post meningitis pediatric conditions at Alsalama center for physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

Method:
Inclusion criteria:
Children under 5 years old diagnosed with meningitis with complete head control.
Exclusion criteria: children who experienced seizure episode, and those above 5 years old.
Sample size: 10 children with post meningitis managed with prolonged physical therapy rehabilitation program. The samples were divided into 2 groups; five children was managed with only physiotherapy and five children managed with physiotherapy in addition to one month of hydrotherapy (eight sessions). The two groups was evaluated using Gross Motor function measure (GMFM).
